You can find an awful lot of pretty pictures and inspiration on the IKEA blog, Livet Hemma. I think you should go take a look; if you aren’t a fan already, you will be.

A Love Note to Bread Boards and Trays

Best of Bread Boards and Trays by Charlotte's Fancy

I have fondness for trays and bread boards because they inspire me to make good food for my family and they make me appreciate and remember the simple pleasures in life.

Because weekends are the time when the pace of life is a little slower, it’s nice to sit at the dining room table as a family on a Sunday morning to eat breakfast or brunch and feel like the food we’re eating is delicious and made with care.

These are just a few of my favorites:

Buttering boards by Ferm Living
Unikko tray by Marimekko (at FinnStyle) and Petronella tray by Formverket (at Huset Shop)
Alice apple tray by Barbro Tryberg Boberg/Formverket (black apple design at Rare Device)
Florence the Fox Woodland tray by Darling Clementine
Jaffa Rosa bread board by Spira
Leaf bread board by Isak (at Huset Shop)

Not pictured here, but Camp Cirrus also makes nice trays as does Lotta Külhorn for Koloni Stockholm (at Huset Shop)

What are some of your favorite simple pleasures?

Scandic Grand Central in Stockholm

Scandic Grand Central hotel room

Scandic Grand Central window view

The newly-opened Scandic Grand Central in Stockholm is gorgeous, isn’t it? After seeing these pictures, I’m dreaming of visiting Stockholm again.

A few years ago, we stayed in the Scandic Hasselbacken in Stockholm, and it was one of the prettiest hotels we’ve stayed in. I highly recommend it, especially if you have younger kids, because it’s close to a lot of fun things to do, including Junibacken and Skansen. (And it has the most amazing, organic breakfast spread you have ever seen.)

Skeppsholmen is a truly dreamy site filled with huge photos of beautiful Swedish homes. I recommended clicking on that link only when you have a couple of hours to spare, because once you arrive, you won’t want to leave.

Wingardhs Mill House 5

A stunning vacation home in southern Sweden which was originally an annex to an old farm. It was designed around the Swedish rituals of sauna and bathing.

Although the house is small, it has all of the necessities. Designed by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB.
