Crafty Goodness: Instant Iron-Ons

I stumbled across these terrific Instant Iron-On books this weekend at both Paper Source and a local toy store. The illustrations are by Julia Rothman, Sukie and Mike Perry – all published by Chronicle Books.

They are loaded with fun iron-ons in a variety of sizes and styles that you can apply to shirts, tote bags, tea towels and whatever else you can dream up. Buy the books and use the iron-ons to make handmade gifts, or give the books themselves as a gift. Either way, at $14.95 you get a lot of bang for your buck.

The books are widely available online – and hopefully in a local shop near you. You can also buy them from the Chronicle website (here, here and here).

I bought the Julie Rothman iron on’s a while back. I love all te designs SO much, but sadly the paper quality seems so thin. I tried to decorate tee’s with my daughter and her friends. But the graphics and paper seemed to rip a lot.

That’s really valuable feedback, Kelly. Thanks for sharing that tip. I will admit that I don’t love some of Chronicle’s sticker/label kits and books for basically the same reason. Let’s hope that they improve the print quality of some of their products.

I have subscribed to your beautiful blog today and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I realised the illustrations in the iron-on book are from Lazy Oaf. I used to run an East London market called Sunday UpMarket a few years ago and they were my traders. I was so pleased to discover their work on WordPress and subsequently find out that they have set up a wonderful shop in Soho. Very random.. sorry, but it’s a small world sometimes 🙂
