Crafty Mondays: Fairy Dust

So as you’re well aware by now, we’re all about fairies in our house. One day we had the idea to make some magic fairy dust out of craft supplies we had around the house. Perhaps you don’t have a half pound of Spangles and Sequins lying around, but apparently we did. And glitter, and leftover spice containers.

So we filled the tin with the spangles and glitter,

And spelled “Fairy Dust” with stickers on the lid.

(It ain’t rocket science).

What’s fairy dust for? I’m glad you asked! Sprinkle fairy dust in very small pinches* in the yard to attract fairies, or just leave it in its container in your bedroom, and the fairies will come by and admire the sparkly contents.

*Let’s not dump sequins all over the yard, please.

If you’ve got kids who love fairies, I really highly recommend the various Usborne fairy books. We have Fairy Things to Make and Do and Fairy Cooking. They are very sweet books.

Are you guys familiar with Usborne books? They are based in the UK, but the company is heavily franchised, so there are a million little family-owned websites selling Usborne books. You can get some through Amazon and at the big box bookstores, too. I have a collection of their activity books and craft books, like “Mermaid Things to Make and Do” and “Pirate Things to Make and Do,” along with several holiday-related craft books. All of their illustrations are completely adorable.
